INCIDENT REPORTS/SAFETY WINS

We’re proud to report that, as of today, DSM has reached over 3,000 working hours without a single recordable incident. This milestone reflects the daily commitment, awareness, and teamwork shown by everyone on site. Let’s keep the momentum going — continue reporting hazards, watching out for one another, and remembering that safety isn’t just an individual responsibility, it’s a team effort.

MEET YOUR NEW SAFETY MANAGER

PROJECT UPDATES

My name is Tunde Sule, and I officially joined DSM as the new Safety Manager on June 9th, 2025. I bring over 10 years of safety experience and a strong passion for protecting crews and strengthening Job-site culture. I’m 28 years old and have been happily married for 4 years. Outside of work, I enjoy the outdoors — some of my favorite activities include fishing, white water rafting, and scuba diving. I’m excited to be part of the DSM team and look forward to making a positive impact on safety every day.

DSM wrapped up the first phase of ADA ramp pours and curb restoration along Newark Pompton Turnpike in Pequannock, New Jersey. This critical phase involved demolishing non-compliant sidewalk corners, forming and pouring new ADA-compliant ramps, and patching the surrounding asphalt. The Concrete team worked efficiently while also managing traffic safety and pedestrian access throughout the process. Crews maintained a clean and organized work zone with proper signage and barriers in place.

SAFETY HIGHLIGHT OF THE MONTH

GIFT CARD WINNERS

This month, one of the strongest trends across our Job-sites was consistent PPE usage and quick correction in the field. Crews were regularly observed wearing proper vests, hard hats, gloves, eye protection, and earplugs especially during tasks like jackhammering, asphalt work, and trench entry. Since the new Safety Initiative was started in June there has been a 65% improvement in PPE Compliance across all crews. Thanks to strong field coaching and worker accountability PPE has gone from being a reminder, to being a routine.

Efrain from the Paving Crew, who consistently demonstrated excellent PPE compliance — including his use of safety glasses, ear plugs, and gloves — while working in high-heat environments around asphalt and also through Milling operations.

Geovanny Illescas from the Concrete Crew, who showed strong consistency and discipline while helping complete several ADA ramp pours this month. Geovanny maintained a clean work area, followed all safety protocols, and kept a sharp focus throughout the job.
